Kitchen Sinks: A Guide on Choosing the Right One

My Mom, since forever, has loved her sink before all things in her kitchen. Ask me why? Because it is the most visible part of the kitchen and she easily gets irritated if she sees the sink dirty and unattended. When we bought our kitchen sink a couple of years ago, she really made sure that the sink we bought was the right one for our kitchen. Now, I am a kitchen sink pro, all thanks to my mama!

Take my advice; the best sink would have to be the stainless sink. The reason why it is popular is because it's durable and can always compliment any kitchen design. The Marble, Copper or Brass kitchen sink styles (they're usually the under mounted design) add tastes of class to your kitchen with their fancy looks. They're also designed to look good as they age, but are quite expensive! Then we have our granite sink if you're looking for a somewhat simple yet traditional look for your kitchen. The granite sink is also gaining popularity due to its high durability. However, they are also quite expensive.

Now, to get into the different types and styles of kitchen sinks we will be looking for! The single bowl sink has one basin and is commonly used as the second sink in the kitchen. It is the best sink if you use a lot of large pots and pans. Next is the double bowl sink. This sink is the commonly used style because of its purpose and design. It allows more than one person to use the sink and to wash and rinse at the same time. The under mount kitchen sink is fast becoming popular due to its appearance. It is also easy to maintain but not appropriate for most kitchens because it only works with countertops made up of concrete or other solid materials.

Alright! There you go! Now it is time to go out and hit the shops for your new sink. Before you do, however, here are some quick tips:

  1. Select the one that is durable and easy to maintain
  2. Select the one that matches your kitchen's theme
  3. Select the one that fits your needs

And as for our kitchen sink, well, I should say my Mom really always knows best!
