Allyson McMackon
Allyson has been involved in the independent theatre community in Toronto since 1989 as an actress, “mover”, administrator/producer and director. She has an MFA in Theatre Performance from York University and has worked with DvxT Theatre, STO Union, Skylight Theatre, Factory Theatre/Briefcase Productions, and in Rhubarb!, Summerworks, The Fringe and Groundswell Festivals. She is a frequent rehearsal director for Blue Ceiling Dance Projects, a guest artist at Unionville School of the Arts, has taught at the Centre for Indigenous Theatre, the Koffler Centre and currently teaches physical theatre at York University. In 1998, she founded Theatre Rusticle whose work has received seven Dora Mavor Moore Award nominations including five for April 14, 1912, which toured to the SuperNova and Magnetic North Theatre Festivals in 2008. She was twice nominated for the KM Hunter Artists Award and received a Dora Nomination in 2008 for her direction of April 14, 1912. She sits on the Sounding Board at Passe Muraille and on the board of directors of Puppetmongers Theatre. Upcoming rusticle projects include Birnam Wood, Peter and the Wolf and tours of April 14, 1912.
